Indepence Day Echoes

When was the last time you read the Declaration of Independence?  Not just the first paragraph, but the entire thing.

BANNER

We recently had occasion to re-visit this cornerstone of our nation, and were surprised to find echoes in the grievances against King George.  A surprising number of them could be applied to our current… White House Occupant… who we’ll call T-Rump Rex.

Here they are, in no particular order.
GeorgeIII
He has endeavoured to prevent the population of these States; for that purpose obstructing the Laws for Naturalization of Foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their migrations hither…

T-RumpRex

Trump drew international condemnation after reports emerged that he had questioned the value of taking immigrants from Africa and the Caribbean nation of Haiti during a closed-door meeting with lawmakers at the White House last Thursday, referring to them as “shithole” countries.

GeorgeIII

He has refused to pass other Laws for the accommodation of large districts of people...

T-RumpRex

President Trump served notice Thursday that he may withdraw federal relief workers from Puerto Rico and blamed the island for its failing infrastructure, effectively threatening to abandon the U.S. territory amid a staggering humanitarian crisis in the aftermath of twin hurricanes.

GeorgeIII
For cutting off our Trade with all parts of the world:

T-RumpRex

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce on Monday denounced President Donald Trump’s handling of global trade disputes, issuing a report that argued tariffs imposed by Washington and retaliation by its partners would boomerang badly on the American economy.

GeorgeIII
For depriving us in many cases, of the benefits of Trial by Jury:

T-RumpRex

"We cannot allow all of these people to invade our Country. When somebody comes in, we must immediately, with no Judges or Court Cases, bring them back from where they came."

GeorgeIII
He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us… an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions.

T-RumpRex

You know, part of the problem, and part of the reason it takes so long, is nobody wants to hurt each other anymore, right? And they’re being politically correct the way they take them out, so it takes a little bit longer. And honestly, protesters, they realize it. They realize that there are no consequences to protesting anymore. There used to be consequences, there are none anymore.
